Vyleesi Review:

Vyleesi is a brand new prescription drug soon to be released as the second FDA approved drug to help increase sex drive for women, somewhat like a version of female 'Viagra'. Vyleesi is specifically targeted at pre-menopausal women who feel that they have an extremely low sex drive.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Vyleesi (bremelanotide) to treat acquired, generalized hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) in premenopausal women. The drug was approved by the FDA in June 2019, and is not yet available at this time.

Vyleesi Product Claims:

  • Non-hormonal treatment for HSDD
  • May Help to Increase Sexual Desire in Women

Vyleesi Results:

Vyleesi is an injectable drug that is meant to be injected by the woman approximately 60 minutes prior to sex. Unfortunately it can have negative side effects and clinical studies show limited benefits for increasing sex drive or libido.

By most accounts, Vyleesi may not be a strong choice for ladies looking to improve their sexual satisfaction or boost their libido. Over 40% of women experienced negative side effects - such as nausea - within 1 hour of dosing. In addition, the FDA noted no difference between the drug and placebo in the number of satisfying sexual events in Phase III studies.

Vyleesi - Review

vyleesi bremelanotide Vyleesi is manufactured by Palatin Technologies, and is intended as a treatment for low sexual desire in women and for female sexual dysfunction or HSDD (hypoactive sexual desire disorder). Vyleesi was given FDA approval in June 2019, but is not yet widely available. Vyleesi could have several side effects and would only be taken under a doctor's care. From the Vyleesi manufacturer's website:

"Vyleesi™, the trade name for bremelanotide, is a novel melanocortin 4 receptor agonist under investigation to help restore a natural sexual desire in premenopausal women with HSDD. The mechanism of action of Vyleesi involves helping to activate internal pathways in the brain involved in the body’s normal sexual responses. Vyleesi has been studied in more than 30 clinical trials with over 2,500 people. The Phase 3 Reconnect Studies were designed to confirm the effectiveness of Vyleesi as an as needed treatment for premenopausal women with HSDD, monitor side effects and collect information that will allow Vyleesi to be used safely.

Vyleesi is given by subcutaneous injection under the skin using a single use autoinjector pen. There is no visible needle with the autoinjector. Vyleesi is used only as needed prior to anticipated sexual activity. Women will not have to take Vyleesi on a daily basis. In November 2018 we disclosed that the FDA requested that additional data be generated from a small Phase 1 study with premenopausal volunteers assessing 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure with short term daily use of Vyleesi. Palatin and AMAG, our exclusive North American licensee, believe that this study can be conducted and data submitted prior to the currently schedule PDUFA goal date. Although AMAG’s discussions to date with the FDA are preliminary, and AMAG will continue to have further discussions with the FDA on this matter. AMAG believes that this submission of additional data could cause a delay of the potential approval of Vyleesi by three to six months."

Vyleesi is now the second drug to be approved by the FDA for low sex drive in women - with the first being Addyi. Unlike Addyi, Vyleesi can be used with alcohol - whereas women using Addyi must completely abstain. Unfortunately, Vyleesi does come with its own side effects, including nausea, flushing, injection site reactions, headache, and vomiting. While Vyleesi has now received FDA approval and will become available over the coming months as an option to treat low female sex drive - the jury is out on how effective this drug will be for boosting female libido.

Vyleesi - Conclusion

vyleesi reviewWe feel that Vyleesi will have limited benefit as a product to restore female libido and increase sex drive - even when it is available for sale. Studies involving Vyleesi have shown that the results with Vyleesi are no better than the placebo group. In addition, there is a significant list of side effects associated with taking Vyleesi, which - while not overly serious - are easily avoidable in similar herbal products. Vyleesi would be available by prescription only, and you should never take Vyleesi without consulting a doctor first.

Feedback indicates that results with Vyleesi will be no more noticeable than using a placebo. Any woman considering Vyleesi as a treatment for low female sex would be wise to try safer, natural libido boosters prior to resorting to Vyleesi. Also, it's important to note that while Vyleesi has been approved by the FDA - it is not yet available for sale. Just the side effects alone should be enough to make most women to cross Vyleesi off their list of possible sexual enhancement products.

Overall we rate Vyleesi as a "mixed" prospect for women looking to spice up their sex life and increase sexual satisfaction. Especially considering there are several herbal alternatives like Provestra, Femestril, and Vigorelle which provide superior benefits in female sexual response - without any side effects - and available without a prescription. We feel there are a number of natural, herbal products which have proven very effective in improving low female libido and sex drive - and are much safer, effective, and affordable. As such we can't recommend Vyleesi as a good option for most women. There are several superior products available which are natural and much more gentle on the body - and still provide excellent results.

Vyleesi for low female libido?

Unfortunately Vyleesi leaves much to be desired as a treatment for low female libido and hypoactive sexual desire disorder. With an extremely high price tag and numerous side effects - we feel that Vyleesi would pale in comparison to a number of herbal female enhancers which have been available for a number of years. Vyleesi is not FDA approved and is not available to purchase in the USA.

While Vyleesi is definitely NOT the best option for low female libido, there are a number of natural treatments to increase female sex drive and help improve arousal and sexual satisfaction. All of our consumer recommended products have proven repeatedly that they work, and our consumer recommended female sexual enhancers have excellent money back guarantees. We encourage you to learn more about these products and start experiencing the thrill of revitalized sex life and better sexual satisfaction and enjoyment.
